MHLA Inc. was founded by MARK HARTLEY, B.L.A., O.A.L.A., C.S.L.A who started his own practice in 1994. It is a small firm consisting of registered landscape architects and support staff. Their work focuses on private residential, planning, design, and project management. They design a selection of commercial and institutional landscapes. They work very closely with the client and their consultants, offering the personal attention necessary to resolve all issues over the duration of the project. The principal, Mark Hartley, is involved in every project and with over thirty years experience brings strong design, administrative and technical skills to the project team.
They pride themselves on their creative use of materials and installation techniques in the landscape and they have extensive experience in the design and building of water features from swimming pools to ponds and waterfalls. They are a firm that offers innovative design, creative solutions and sound technical detail, all based on a thorough study of the clients' needs and vision.



Mark Hartley is the principal of MHLA Inc. formerly Mark Hartley Landscape Architects Ltd. Mark offers his experience in many facets of landscape architecture over the last thirty five years. Mark has established himself and his team as a leader in residential/estate design and provides consulting services in Canada and abroad. Mark has always strived to establish landscape design as an essential part of the dialogue we have with the earth we live on. Mark has won several awards and several design competitions, he was a former board member of the Toronto Botanical Garden over the years, and is an enthusiastic member at the Art Gallery of Ontario.

Maureen Sedran,

Maureen Sedran has been a senior associate with the firm for the past 22 years. A graduate of Ryerson University Landscape Arch program, Maureen has designed and supervised the construction of over 100 projects ranging from large residential, to cottages, rural properties and commercial sites. Maureen’s extensive knowledge of plant material is a tremendous asset in the completion of our projects. Her strong business background and collaborative approach are the perfect complement to her creative and technical talents.

David Taylor,
B.F.A, B.L.A, O.A.L.A,

David Taylor is a registered Landscape Architect with 16 years of professional experience in residential, institutional and public landscapes.  David joined MHLA in 2010, returning to his hometown of Toronto after spending 6 years working and living in Boston, Massachusetts.  He is graduate of the MLA program at the university of Guelph and the Fine Arts Program at York University.  At MHLA David has acquired valuable project management and construction supervision experience to compliment his strong technical knowledge, computer drafting and rendering skills.
